MISSION STATEMENT
The Friends of Cherry Valley are dedicated to the conservation of the region’s scenic beauty, wildlife, ecological and environmental resources, and rural character. We strive to maintain these unique resources and to provide a high quality of life for the area’s residents, visitors, and generations to come.
GOALS
· To conserve the unique plants, animals, and natural habitats that are found in the valley.
· To maintain or improve water quality throughout the watershed. Restore and enhance quality vegetation as stream buffers, identifying malfunctioning septic systems for repair.
· To preserve, protect, and manage the watershed’s unique resources. Preserve prehistoric, historic and cultural sites. Encourage sustainable farming and forestry practices.
· To identify, clean up, and preserve the scenic areas of the valley. Protect open space and environmentally sensitive areas.
· To create a network of greenways and trails which provide linkages for wildlife and recreational opportunities to enjoy nature and scenery.
· To promote long-range stewardship through education, conservation, and appropriate public policies.
· The establishment of the National Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
